Just for ONCE I'd like to have my Neurologist send the response. I understand that docs can get super busy, and because there aren't tons of MS Neuros, the ones there are seem to have like 3,000,000 patients. However, you mean he can NEVER respond back? Ever? š When I go in for my yearly, I have to go over everything I'd already told him but he never saw cuz his NPs apparently don't communicate with him. It makes my šæ-tude appear. What do y'all do when this happens? My GP actually told me to⦠read more
How can you improve communication with your neurologist when nurse practitioners keep responding instead?
Your frustration is completely understandable. Having to repeat everything at your yearly appointment because communication isn't flowing properly can be exhausting and makes you feel unheard.

I must be lucky, well I have MS so we could probably rule that out, but my doctor has several PAs and when I send him an email depending on the time I sent it he usually gets back with me the same day. I did luck out with my doctor because he is really well known in the neurologist scene . I had a subdural hematoma that required a craniotomy and out of the four neurologist that were treating me, they all knew him and told me that he was the best of the best. That could just be a good bedside manner, but Iām pretty sure he is world renowned, and a pretty big deal. Hail to the chief.
Hi Jennifer,
Iām the polar opposite to you,
I go in and tell my story to every nurse, assistant, doctor, consultant as if they are just being told the first time. I go with the premise that they have zero knowledge about my case. I take the stance that they are too lazy to read my notes and that they donāt communicate with each other. I am not going to take the risk and depend on the professionals to communicate with each other. They have to tell me that they have enough information.
Itās difficult to remember all the information. I bring a typed sheet either all my symptoms and concerns and treatments with me.
I donāt care how I come across,
Itās too frustrating thinking that they have read their notes. Nobody Knows it better than yourself. Start writing down your symptoms and ask yourself
āwhat is the main thing you want out of the meeting with the medical teamā
Stay focussed on that. Eg
Pick your worst symptom or If you have a new or terrible symptom that you are finding difficult to live with ask them about it. And advice on treatment for it.
