Are you finding that disability benefits aren't covering your expenses?
Many people with MS face this challenge. Disability payments often fall short of what's needed, especially when you're dealing with expensive treatments and daily living costs.
Here are some options that might help:
- Financial assistance programs: MS specialists can connect you with resources through MS organizations and pharmaceutical companies that help fund treatments
- Patient assistance programs: Many medication manufacturers offer programs specifically for people who can't afford their prescriptions
- Talk to your MS care team: Don't hesitate to discuss cost concerns with your doctor - they can often find ways to help you access treatment regardless of your financial situation
If you haven't already, make sure you're exploring all available assistance programs. Your healthcare team is there to help you navigate these options and find solutions together.
It's also worth staying connected through volunteering or hobbies during this time, as unemployment can affect mental health and self-esteem.

Also keep and copy your receipts for every cane, walker, wheel chair , etc with the date and store bought . Everything you bring will help you. And put everything all MRI reports, doctor notes in a notebook in year /month order to show progression. If you got a handicapped placard for your car from a GP. Photocopy it all so you can don't have give away your originals! Good luck! If you have any questions, please ask. I've had SS disability since 2014.

I heard it is very difficult for MS patients to qualify for disability, I don’t understand why. Does the payment go by past earned income?
