Members reflecting on what they would tell their younger selves at diagnosis overwhelmingly emphasized self-trust, positivity, and self-advocacy, with many sharing that learning to listen to their own bodies was one of the most important lessons. Several members offered practical advice including eating healthier, exercising regularly, staying on medication, reducing stress, and paying attention to gut health as key tools for managing MS long-term. A recurring theme was emotional resilience, with many reminding their younger selves that MS does not define who you are, that life can still be full and meaningful, and that leaning on faith, humor, and community makes the journey more manageable.

I would recite Phillipians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. It took me a while to claim this verse. My initial diagnosis came when I could barely move and spent the whole summer just lying around. A 15 foot walk wore me out, nap for 3 hours, etc. My kids brought me out of it one day they were goofing around and held a mirror under my nose to see if I was still breathing. Their humor helped A LOT.
