@A MyMSTeam Member That Be Awesome! I got to thank my toes and ankles for only permitting me the 2.5 hours of sleep last night. I got up at 1:40 Am been up since. I Google the Google out of the search engine. I discovered 2 locations not far from me here in South Jersey MS support groups whom meet up once a month. Once every 3rd Wednesday and the other every 4th Monday. Their going to get a load out of me lol
I've been spending most days 10 plus hours a day All by my lonesome. Until my husband gets home unloads his day being a General Foreman hit with endless complications and Chronic Stresses and I return to my window watching my bird feeders thinking /feeling I got to get out and meet my peers. Those who get we are Generals on our jobsite, that being our body's our mind's. His 10 hour into 6 days a week has similar fatigue, stresses and I only did the house cleaning, cooked dinner, shopped for groceries. What he could skip around whistling accomplish with ease verses What those tasks drain me while doing then the after masses of having done them.

That’s a great question and I have tried finding events like that in my area and I haven’t been able to to find any. Maybe , I can try to run this by the MS center I go to and see if they can be any assistance.

@A MyMSTeam Member nights are so rough. It’s hard to feel well with lack of sleep. I understand you wanting to get out and meet people . Maybe we can start a zoom group together and we can do it once a week . I’m sure there are others here who might want to join in.

Are there MS social activities beyond support groups and awareness walks that help people with MS build genuine friendships?

You're absolutely right that social connections with people who truly understand MS can make a huge difference. Many MS treatment providers and organizations do offer various social activities and resources beyond traditional support groups.

Depending on your MS treatment provider, you may have access to:
* Seminars and webinars
* Meetups and social gatherings
* Educational events
* Various community activities

Your version of connecting might be a coffee date with a fellow MS warrior rather than sitting in a room of 20 new faces - and that's perfectly valid. Some local resources to explore include:
* Your local YMCA
* Senior centers
* Parks and recreation departments

These often host accessible activities like chair exercises, swimming, water aerobics, and other adaptive programs that can double as social opportunities.

For transportation assistance, contact your local social services department to learn what's available in your area. Many communities offer programs to help people with mobility challenges get to social activities. A MyMSTeam member shared about virtual fitness classes: "We usually have between 15 and 25 people on our Zoom sessions so you get to chat with other MS-ers before class."

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Multiple Sclerosis Association of America may have information about local chapters hosting social events. It's worth reaching out to them directly about activities in your state.

Building these friendships takes effort, but as one member said, "Remarkably, our chronic illness introduces us to friends we would have never met before."
