Unfortunately, radiologists make mistakes like everyone else. I have a specific lesion that the radiologist did not mention on the report, but the MS specialist caught it by reviewing the MRI images . It is very important that your doctor reviews everything and not just rely on the Radiologist. I am sorry that happened to you .
The Neurologist believes the radiologist is stating there is a new lesion vs stating the current lesion (which has been present since 2024) has changed. The NP for the neuro through messages on mychart stated existing lesions could not change or progress. I have read on different sites (MS National Society, Cleveland Clinic) that existing lesions can change. The MRI was ordered because I had new areas of numbness and muscles spasms. My original numbness has never stopped progressing at any point either.
