Like asking for ramp, handrail, parking spaces close to door?
As soon as I got diagnosed, my doctor signed paperwork for light duty. My company did not want to accommodate it first, but eventually they did. I was on light duty for 2 1/2 years before I had to quit. When I wanted my long-term disability, the company tried to deny it saying that I did not work 40 hour weeks, but I was able to prove that I had FMLA during that time and each time I called in. I had requested that they put it towards that. Eventually, I was able to get my long-term disability for two years thanks to God and the two women at Mutual Of Omaha who really helped me through the process.
Have you asked your employer for accommodations like ramps, handrails, or closer parking spaces?
Yes, many people with MS have successfully requested workplace accommodations. One MyMSTeam member shared that an organization came to assess their workstation and provided more suitable items to make working easier.
