I have SPMS and am 65 yo. I also have a hole in the macula in my right eye that has to be repaired and I will have to hold my head down for days. I can stand the pain now. I don't know how I'm going to be able to handle it when I have surgery.

Members rallied around a question about severe thoracic spine pain from MS, offering both emotional support and practical advice. Several members encouraged speaking openly with a doctor or neurologist about the pain, with suggestions including asking about a vest brace, work accommodations, and spine-specific treatments. A recurring theme was that MS pain is often overlooked, and that advocating for yourself with your medical team is key to finding relief.

Thank you all. I had the surgery to repair the hole in the macula. They told me i could lay on my side and that is working. I do have arthritis in my spine and degenerative disc disease and I know about that but it is particularly bad in the thoracic spine where my lesions are. But I don't think enough attention is given to pain from MS.
