Oh wow, Shining Thistle! I've had a whooshing feeling in my head a couple of times-they were due to too much sugar. It feels like water sloshing around, like the water in a washing machine.

Yes I do that. Vicks Vapor rub on my neck, or magnesium lotion. It keeps it "down".

That sounds like it could be related to MS-affecting how your nervous system processes sensory information. MS can cause a range of unusual sensations and noises that are hard to explain, often referred to as dysesthesias or paresthesias — basically, your nerves misfiring signals.
The fact that a muscle relaxant helps is interesting, as it suggests there may be a muscular or nerve-tension component involved too. Here are some things worth noting and tracking:
- When does it happen? Certain movements, times of day, or temperatures?
- What does it feel like? A grinding, popping, buzzing, or pressure sensation?
- How long does it last?
- Does heat or fatigue make it worse?
Keeping a symptom journal with these details can really help your neurologist pinpoint what's going on and adjust your care plan if needed.
It's always a good idea to flag new or changing sensations like this to your MS care team, especially if it's becoming more frequent or disruptive to daily life.

Can applying a moist heating pad to your neck when you start to hear the thump help, @A MyMSTeam Member?
