My Dr and I stopped the DMTs after my last MRI. I'm non-relsing SPMS and not getting worse or better, so DMTs are just a cost for little benfit, There are no real treatment for SPMS. So with a good discussion we decided that I wouldgo DMT free with close monitoring, and since I studied MS, they knrw I was well infformed and if inflammation ramped up, I would gladly go back on.

I think a lot of clinical trials stopped at the age of 55 , so some doctors don’t feel comfortable having their patients taking after that point. The immune system calms down, and weakens with age naturally and then add a dmt that lowers your immune system even more . Everyone has to go by their own personal health history to see if it is worth it or not to continue taking it . If ms is stable , it might be worth it to stop . You can always go back on .

I don’t understand, it seems to me that after certain ages they want you to stop taking meds if you’re doing well because you’re too old and they’re too expensive. It seems like if you are doing well the meds are working. Please don’t hate me but I was CV a nurse for a long time and I’m sorry to say I saw a lot🙏

I've been on Ocrevus since I was diagnosed in 2020 and have had no harmful side effects. I'm grateful for that but would like to stop taking medications if possible.
