Some MyMSTeam members have reported pain and nerve-related sensations connected to the injection site. One MyMSTeam member shared that when they injected too close to a nerve, they experienced significant pain and agony from hitting it. Weakness or numbness in the arm could potentially be related to a few things:
- IV site irritation — the needle placement can sometimes affect nearby nerves or tissue
- Infusion reaction — reactions can include a range of symptoms, and nerve sensations are worth flagging
- The "crap gap" — some people notice worsening MS symptoms like tingling or weakness around the time of their infusion, either right after or before the next one
The most important step is to contact your MS care team right away and describe exactly what you're experiencing. Even mild or uncertain symptoms are worth reporting so they can determine if any adjustments or monitoring are needed.
