I had a pretty significant outpatient procedure last Friday. General anesthesia and all. My MS symptoms seem to have gotten worse. Having a tough time bouncing back in general, too. Your experience?

Members responded to a question about worsening MS symptoms after surgery with a mix of personal experiences and supportive advice, with many noting that the body goes through real stress during procedures even when pain isn't felt. Several members suggested staying hydrated, getting plenty of rest, eating well, and reaching out to a neurologist or doctor if symptoms persist. A recurring theme was hope and resilience, and the original poster later shared a positive update that after a week of rest and good self-care, they were feeling much stronger.

Yes that happens after having surgery sometimes it should be ok if not call a nurse and ask them or a doctor.

I had my left knee replacement & did just fine with my MS. I developed an infection in my knee. That's what kept me in the hospital a couple of days longer. I had a great recovery. Finished my PT sooner than expected.

🙏Thank you for all the shares, well wishes, and faith filled encouragement, everyone! It's been a week and I'm feeling much stronger, back to my pre-surgery MS self. I let Jesus take the wheel and instruct me on how to take care of myself. Plenty of rest, plenty of fluids (water, kombucha, orange juice), and super healthy eats. Excelsior!!! 🙌

Anesthesia is tough , a lot of people have a hard time bouncing back even without ms . Your body goes through trauma and stress when you have surgery, you don’t feel it thank goodness, but it does . I would imagine it is normal for your ms symptoms to be exacerbated for a while after but just reach out to your neurologist to be sure . I hope you feel better soon @A MyMSTeam Member

I just recently had a procedure on my back, DDD, degeneracy disc disease. It's called the Intercept Procedure, (basically cauterizes nerves (😱) in my back. They put me under, I was okay after.
