I recently had a small conversation...about losing the ability..to defecate "properly". Ouch sorry, this may be spot on, more real, and scary to many. Guess what? We come in this world UNABLE to clean after use...and MANY of us go out the same way...Let that sink in. We are all human...

Members opened up about the very real and often unspoken challenges of bowel and bladder issues related to MS, with many sharing that they felt relieved to finally talk about it openly without shame. Several members offered practical tips including using a Squatty Potty, bidets, magnesium supplements, probiotics, flaxseed, fiber-rich foods like cherries and raisin bran, stool softeners, and medications like Linzess and Movantik. A recurring theme was encouraging one another to keep advocating with doctors, since bowel and bladder changes are real MS symptoms that deserve to be taken seriously.

I've struggled with either being constipated or it's opposite for decades. My physical therapist suggested that I get a stool, aka squatty potty, lol. I resisted initially but finally gave in and got one. It's unbelievable how much of a difference it has made for me. I would have started using one sooner, I likely could have prevented the rectal prolapse I had. Also, I was taking Linzess for a while, but really hated it's effects. I recently started taking Movantik, and I definitely prefer it. Other things that have helped, ensuring that I drink enough water, and get enough fiber in my diet.

Yes, Jj-staying hydrated-I can't remember how many times my mom told me and my childhood friends to drink water. in my 20s whenever I had a headache, she'd always ask me if I drank some water today.
