I'm not talking about having a "food coma," but extreme fatigue after eating.

Yes. I fast until 5pm almost everyday. Food makes me sluggish.

Yes. I would say at least half the time after I eat. Usually within an hour of eating.

Yes, this is something many people with MS experience, and you're definitely not alone in noticing it. MS fatigue is unlike ordinary tiredness — it can hit suddenly and feel overwhelming, almost like your body just shuts down.

One MyMSTeam member described it as feeling like you're "wearing a comforter of just tired. It's heavy." There are a few reasons why eating might trigger or worsen fatigue with MS:

- Energy demands of digestion — Your body redirects energy to digest food, which can amplify existing MS fatigue.
- Blood sugar fluctuations — Sugary or high-carb meals can cause energy spikes followed by crashes.
- Gastroparesis — A condition that can occur alongside MS where the stomach empties slowly, causing discomfort and fatigue after eating.

It's worth mentioning this pattern to your neurologist or healthcare provider, especially if it's affecting your daily routine. Keeping a food diary to track which meals seem to trigger the worst fatigue could also be really helpful.
