I’ve been physically exhausted for over a year now. When you pair it with the ataxia and coordination and balance issue, it’s not a pretty picture. I literally get exhausted just standing and cleaning the kitchen. What helps you?

Members responded to a question about managing physical exhaustion with MS by sharing a wide range of strategies that have helped them cope day to day. Several members emphasized breaking tasks into smaller steps, pacing activities around their best time of day (often mornings), resting without guilt, and asking for help from caregivers or loved ones. A recurring theme was consulting a neurologist about fatigue medications like Modafinil or Provigil, checking vitamin and iron levels, staying cool to avoid worsening symptoms, and being kind to yourself throughout the process.

I have fatigue a lot. What I do is I try too keep my temperature regulated, as when I hit extremes in temp I wilt, but I also do small things at a time. I pace myself, and I sit when I need to. I got an accommodation from work for 30 minute breaks, I work from home, and if I need too, I can take a quick nap for 15-20 minutes. Work with your body and rest when you need to. Be Kind to yourself!
