Does anyone have any spot that is itchy at won’t stop ? And does any one have lower back pain on one side and just a small spot

I have had a spot on my hand that is so itchy that I’m shocked I don’t have a sore , been trying multiple times that stop the itch.

And in my lower right side back a spot hurt . There are time I can’t move and makes it hard to sleep .

I have an itch on my left shoulder and all around both ears. They are from 2 really bad cases of shingles. When I get having spasticity in my limbs the itchiness flares up. It is so bad at times that I feel like I just want to cry and rip my ears and shoulder off.

The itching on your hand is very likely a nerve-related symptom called pruritus (or cutaneous dysesthesia). With MS, nerve damage causes the brain to misread signals and interpret them as itching — even when there's nothing wrong with the skin itself. That's why it can itch so intensely without leaving a mark.

A MyMSTeam member described it perfectly: *"I just about tear my skin off trying to relieve the itching."* For some relief, here are a few things that have helped others:

- Ice pack wrapped in a cloth placed on the itchy area to temporarily numb the sensation
- Avoiding alcohol, which some find worsens itching
- Standard creams, lotions, or antihistamines typically don't help since this isn't a skin issue

If the itching is severely affecting daily life or sleep, a neurologist can prescribe nerve-targeted medications like gabapentin or carbamazepine. The localized lower back pain is also worth mentioning to your neurologist, especially since it's affecting your ability to move and sleep. Nerve pain in MS can be very specific and localized like this.
