Newly diagnosed and trying to decide if/when to start a DMT. They know I’ve had this for at least 9 years, and some lesions have healed, some have remained the same, and some are new within the past 9 years. My neurologist recommended Ocrevus but I’m hesitant to start such an intense drug. I’m doing anything I can for lifestyle changes (Wahls diet, work, supplements, etc). I’m 30 and we’re in the middle of growing our family so this is all a lot to process for the trajectory of our family… read more

Members shared personal stories about how and why they chose to start, switch, or stop a DMT, with many emphasizing that the decision was deeply personal and shaped by their own health history, lifestyle, and comfort level. Several members described using a process of elimination, researching options thoroughly, watching videos from doctors like Aaron Boster, and arriving at appointments with detailed questions to advocate for themselves. A recurring theme was that MS and medications affect everyone differently, and finding the right fit may take trial and error, but many options exist.

It was difficult and I still don’t know if I made the right choice . I have an MRI in October and I am praying I have no new lesions or I might have to switch to a different DMT. I used Process of elimination, I knew the DMT’s I definitely didn’t want and then I made a list of the ones I was willing to take and researched them . There are lots of videos on YouTube that MS patients make speaking about their journey and there are videos from doctors as well ( Aaron Boster is great) one thing to keep in mind is that just like all medications everyone reacts differently to them. Some people may get side effects and you may get none at all . It is trial and error . Your doctor will also guide you based on your MRI and symptoms and what they think works best . I showed up to an appointment with 4 pages of questions 😂 I felt like I had the right to do that since it’s my body. Luckily my doctor actually sat there and answered every question. Not sure if this helped you at all , but if you have any questions let me know , I am here for you 🧡🤗

I haven't and will not until the Ocrevus stops working.

@A MyMSTeam Member I'm still taking Ocrevus, I will have to talk with my rheumatologist about what medication will work well with the Ocrevus. I prefer to stay on it because I still get occasional lesions on my spinal cord and smoldering lesions in the white matter of my brain.

Ocrevus has kept my symptoms away.

I did try DMTs early on but they all quickly stopped working on/for me so I just gave it up and moved on to my daily routine as any kind of 'treatment' to focus on.
