MRI scan 24 hour turn around ?

Hello you lovely lot, I hope your all well.

So I had an MRI scan on my thoracic and lumbar spine on Sunday afternoon, this was reffered by MuscoskeIetal or (MKS) clinic due to significant thoracic back pain situated where my ribs are, accompanied with servere pain in my arm and leg
(particularely worse when resting and at night) I also have reduced sensation in my hip, this is all on the left side. However I do not think this is MS related.

If you had nerve compression you would be in quite a bit of pain. Besides the fractures I have had nerves pinched and compressed from a fall in Alaska in 2025. The surgeon in Alaska wanted to do surgery I hope you don't have anything that needs surgery! @A MyMSTeam Member

A quick turnaround on MRI results can feel alarming, but it doesn't always mean bad news. Sometimes results are processed faster simply due to radiologist availability or administrative timing. That said, your instinct isn't wrong — consultants do sometimes prioritise face-to-face discussions when something needs closer attention or explanation. This could mean a few things:

- Something was flagged that needs discussing in more detail
- They want to rule out certain causes of your symptoms
- They may want to recommend further tests or imaging Your symptoms — particularly the one-sided pain, reduced sensation, and pain worsening at rest — are worth taking seriously, and it's good your care team is acting promptly.

Given your MS, it's really important to let your neurologist know about these results too, once you have them. Spinal MRI findings can sometimes be relevant to MS monitoring, even when symptoms seem unrelated at first. Many MyMSTeam members have shared similar experiences of unexpected quick callbacks after scans — it can feel frightening, but try to hold on until Friday.
