Members rallied around the question of what diet works best for fatty liver, with the Mediterranean diet standing out as the top recommendation across many responses. Several members shared personal routines that included cutting out processed and fried foods, drinking mostly water and unsweetened beverages, eating lean proteins like chicken and salmon, and using an air fryer to avoid added oils. A recurring theme was gradual, sustainable change, with practical tips like reading food labels, adding fruits and veggies, and allowing an occasional treat to stay on track long term.

The Mediterranean diet is good . Avoid processed foods, eat lots of vegetables and fruit , try to limit red meat and don’t eat hot dogs or cold cuts . Fatty liver is pretty common in this country unfortunately

My tips -
When food shopping look on the food labels for sugar and fat content, if the numbers are high or labelled red its bad for you, most low fat food contain green and orange labels.

I eat alot of chicken, prawns, ground beef, salmon or tuna. I would usually marinate the meat or prawns in something like peri peri or sweet chilli for example. I supliment my meals with rice, taco shells, peppers, Jalapeños and a small amount of a sauce like salsa, sweet chilli, or ranch sauce.

I eat gluten free bread (warburtons) to be precise, i toast it and add scrambled eggs with black pepper. I sometimes add mushrooms or make bacon medalions and have them on toast with a small amount of red/brown sauce.

For snacks I eat fruit, cheese triangles, or low fat yogurt, and occasionally a packet of low fat crisp like popchips.

I do all my meals in the airfryer/ microwave. I do not use oil or fry food. I find not having an oven has made this alot easier for me.

I drink 2 cups of tea per day with sweetener and milk, I like the green top milk. I try to drink water for most of the day too.

I try to follow this for 6 days a week...

I then have a treat day which I call (Fuck it friday) so I will enjoy a Takeout, a nice piece of carrot cake or even a couple of gins. Its what ever you prefer.

Hope this helps alittle x
