I supposed to take 4mg tablets 3 times a day. I was taking the round tablets then my pharmacy switched me to the little football looking ones. After that I had problems with my esophagus and had a ulcer bleed. So I think that is was caused that. I had my pharmacy to switch me back and haven't had anymore problems with that. But yes be careful

Kay-lee i was on 4mg and had hallucinations. Now i take 1/2 of that. It works much better for me.
That seems like a lot. I agree with Zman.

Medication is too strong! Please seek med advice. I went into a coma and nearly out of this world by taking too much baclofen. Tizanidine used for the same function! Be careful!!!

What a rough couple of weeks — those symptoms sound really uncomfortable, and it makes total sense to wonder if others have been through something similar with a tizanidine dose increase.

Tizanidine is a muscle relaxant commonly used to help manage spasticity in MS. When doses are increased, the body does sometimes need time to adjust, and some of what's being experienced can be related to that transition period.

Some known side effects of tizanidine that match what's being described include:

- Dizziness and low blood pressure — tizanidine can cause blood pressure to drop, especially with dose increases
- Nausea and stomach pain — gastrointestinal upset is a recognised side effect
- General feelings of being unwell

The good news is that some of these effects can settle as the body adjusts, which may be what happened at the original 6mg dose. However, the dropping blood pressure and dizziness are worth taking seriously and shouldn't be ignored. It's really important to contact the neurologist soon to let them know what's happening — they may want to slow the increase, adjust timing of doses, or check in more closely.

A MyMSTeam member shared a similar experience, noting that with higher doses they became increasingly dizzy and sleepy, and worked with their doctor to find the right balance.

Please don't wait it out alone if symptoms feel severe — a quick call to the neuro team is always the safest move. 💛

I'd inform your doctor about it. They may decree it down for you or figure out a different option.
