I was diagnosed two years ago and have been doing the Ocrevus infusions which I'm tolerating well and they seem to be doing the job. According to my last MRI there are no new lesions. So far so good
Now here's the confusing part. Over time I've seen a few neurologists for different reasons. The first three were all treating me for MS. Then last week I've seen another one who says I don't have MS,because of my age (58) and no bladder or vision problems. So I went to get another opinion and this… read more

i was diagnosed the year the ms Mcdonald mri diagnosing criteria was established.. that year i read everything i could about ms.. i am an engineer and against the norm i learned up about ms from the mri from there i learned what ms symptoms and why i had ms. that year there were tons of people being undiagnosed with ms cause their mri's had lesions but not in the right places for ms... i recently established a friendship with someone who has ms but is fine at 70 driving to chicago for fairs. i do not believe he ever had ms but he has been getting mri and had lesions. .i think he was just someone who wasnt undiagnosed when the mri mc donald diagnosing criteria came out. so docs took the easier way with him and just kept treating with copaxone. he was still taking copaxone when he was in his late 60s.
i am open to ur being misdiagnosed at ur age.. there has been so. much advancements to make diagnosis more accurate.back when i was first told i might have ms it was more like licking a finger and putting a wet finger in the wind to ns diagnosis
since that time mris have improved and a mri diagnosing procedure exists.
but u can also get a copy of ur mri and check to see if it follows the mcdonald diagnosing criteria.
when diagnosed i had lost my job was without insurance. .i know it is recommended to get a 2,nd opinion for major diagnosis. i had no insurance so i had to be my own 2nd opinion... i got copies of my mri compared them to mcdonald diagnosing procedure and bamn i knew it was a correct diagnosis .. u can do the same to see if it was a correct diagnosis
i dont think spinal tap will do anything this is not an active disease diagnosis or undiagnosed
my friend was not undiagnosed but no longer has appointments just call us if anything happens.
ms is diagnosis over time. has to behave correctly over time & a reputable doc must re examine symptoms over time to sen if it behaved over time as the diagnosis predicted
if it didnt it was not the correct diagnosis..does not mean there was nothing wrong it means the incorrect diagnosis was assigned to the symptoms
i dont know anything about lesion locations to determine if the assigned diagnosis was correct. i just know even after meds started new lesions should still form just slower. others have been undiagnosed if no new lesions after 10 years on ms treatment. for the meds that existed at that time.
Hi DorisM,
A spinal tap is a for sure sign.
I’m 72 and have had no new lesions or exacerbations since chemotherapy stopped in 2015. And that wasn’t really an exacerbation but I was off DMD during chemotherapy and symptoms started after the chemo wore off. About two months after I stopped taking the poisons.
Did you have lesions on your original MRI? Maybe you have a milder MS, some people barely have any symptoms . I hope you don’t have MS but at the same time if you don’t, what has the Ocrevus been doing to your body if it is not needed. There have been other people on here in the same situation as you . You might be able to find their posts by searching in the search above . I hope you get an answer soon . So sorry that you are going through this . I wish you the best of luck and please keep us posted .
Great. This is awesome
