Yes, people can be low on any vitamin or mineral out there; vast majority of multi-vitamin supplements on the market and emarket have magnesium oxide which is basically for keeping bowels regular. look at the info the hospital mentioned, if they gave you any-beans, greens, nuts, and some other foods have magnesium in them. There are also magnesium supplements out there; look for mag. malate for muscles and bones, that one may help you with muscle spasms and other bone/muscle issues the most.

That sounds really scary — collapsing is no small thing, and it's good that you got medical attention right away. So, were you diagnosed with hypomagnesemia (low magnesium) after your collapse?

Low magnesium can actually share some symptoms with MS, which can make things tricky to sort out. Symptoms that overlap between the two include:

- Muscle spasms
- Fatigue
- Weakness
- Numbness
- Stiffness
- Twitching
- Nausea or vomiting Because these symptoms overlap so much, it's really important to let your neurologist know what happened. They can help figure out whether your collapse was related to your MS, your magnesium levels, or both.

A simple blood test can measure your magnesium levels, and if they're low, treatment is usually straightforward. But keeping your MS care team in the loop ensures nothing gets missed.
