I am about to stat a new venture in trying to get some pounds that have attached themselves to me. I plan to walk and am researching the Paleo Diet. Do any of you have something that works for you or are on the Paleo way of eating?
The reason I am following the Paleo diet it isn't just to lose weight but to stop some of the symptoms I am having. What I read is that is to curb symptoms and possibly reverse the hold of MS. So far it is!
PALEO....yes, it really encourages better health. I've got 40 lbs or so that stick like glue. I am not fighting the diet roller coaster any more. My relationship with food got so bad. It would be easy to just NOT EAT or go the other eat and NEVER CARE what I put in my mouth. Neither one of those are real OPTIONS...not with already having MS. I have two sibings with type 2 diabetes. I have well decided NOT ME! WIth PALEO....the best ever advice was to avoid all the inner aisles of the grocery store and definitely learn to eat as close to what is unprocessed as possible. NO FOODS with more than one ingredient on the label. AND on top of this, my advice is read GOOD CARBS BAD CARBS....truthfully, SUGAR IS NOT OUR FRIEND...If we can reduce sugar intake in general, inflammation in the body is lessened.
Ok, that is one rant.
Next one is this....INTERMITTENT FASTING....it reduces inflammation in the body....There is so much information out there. The latest, the EAT, FAST, LIVE documentary by Dr. MOSELY is very good....watch it...look at his book...I fast regularly....my joints do not hurt as much, I am not as bloated, and I fully believe it will get me finally and absolutely to my healthiest. ALSO....review the FAST-5 diet...I've used this successfully the past 5 months, lost inches all over and bloating and pains are lessened. THE FAST-5 diet has a free ebook online. It is also intermittent fasting.
THERE.....I've had my say. 24 years of this MS walk...I'm still fighting.
Eating like our ancestors can be a huge lifestyle change, but the diet is ridiculously rewarding. I promise you will feel better, have more energy, and lose weight. The body isn't made to process many of the chemicals and substances put into foods these days. Particularly processed sugars.
Check out this doctor, if you haven't already. Dr. Wahle's was in pretty bad shape, then changed her diet completely and REVERSED her MS onset.

Check out his one after. It's super technical, but you'll get the gist. It's the paleo diet and the diet's characteristics toward MS. Funded by Direct MS.

Look at Rob Wolfe's research. He's brilliant.
Enjoy!
My husband and I just started a Paleo based diet that we found by watching a video of Dr. Terry Wahls. If you haven't heard of her you can Google her and watch her video. Pretty amazing stuff! So far we feel great with the diet changes! It really hasn't been too difficult.
Weight Watchers worked for me and it is still working. I lost 64 lbs and have kept it off for 12 yrs with what I learned from weight watchers, exercise, and proportionate meals.
