A small discussion was had on using fingers to eat due to the lack of being able to utilize utensils due to spasticity and or tremor. How would you react? What would you order? How would you feel about it?
@patricia Thanks this sounds like what I need. I'm sure hubby won't miss the Mac in his face or the BBQ beans on his favorite shirts lol
I don't know the capability of any use of your fingers or movement of you wrists but you obviously know what a tenodesis splint is I'm sure. Would a rocker knife be out of question? If I went out to dinner, I would hope that whoever took me would not have a problem with cutting up my food and feeding me like they would a growing child. One bite for you and one for me. I wouldn't order spaghetti! Any food that could be cut up to serve or large enough for someone to hold and me to just bite into. Long bending straws would have to be brought so I could drink myself. I have no idea how to cope with this, just absolutely not a clue. I'll be honest, I would have someone order food in to my home because emotionally I am so self-conscious now, I wouldn't know how to cope. I commend you for doing it. I'm being honest when I tell you these things because I could act like "Oh, it's simple, just do this or do that" but I just don't have a clue. I've read your profile and see how full of life you are. Again, you are truly amazing. If I EVER hear of something new for quads I'll be the first to tell because you never know what someone else has heard or not heard. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
Indians traditionally eat with their hands, as do Ethiopians, pizza, sandwiches, etc. if you can suggest non-European or Asian cuisines unless there's a good option (fish and chips)
I have difficulty with knife, fork and spoon, can't pick them up off of table, can't hold knife to cut, drop them sometimes. I have difficulty with a large glass, have to hold with both hands. I'm not sure if it's MS or old age.
I really hadn't thought of this.
