I had a numb tongue when I was first diagnosed in 2005. That's was one of the main reasons I went to the ER along with the headaches. (I didn't have insurance at the time)
I thought it was Bells Palsy again because I have had that twice when I was young. 10 & 12. When I was young it was also the whole right side of my face and it lasted for about a month. But this last time in 2005 they gave me the solu medrol and that helped it. Did you tell your Neuro? Good luck.

I lost my sense of taste for two weeks. Tongue, cheeks and lips felt numb but no taste as well. I had my sense of smell though. It came back on its own but I thought it might be a vitamin deficiency. Went to Neuro and they did two MRI's (spine and brain.) Nothing new showed up on those. No one could tell me why it happened and it was very worrisome because if you can't taste things, you won't eat - because everything tastes like nothing.
The taste sense came back on its own. I still don't know what caused it other than it being a "nerve" thing.

@laurenms ~ it eventually went away with time and treatment of ACTH. It was the medication they use 32 years ago. I was bedridden at the time and was fortunate to walk out of the hospital after two weeks of physical therapy. Guess I was young and had a lot of determination! Do you eat salmon or anything that has Omega? I take a tsp of chia seeds daily which has Omega in it and it seems to give me energy though I have been taking it for a couple of weeks. Still in the trial stages of trying it out. I would ask your doctor first. I don't know if you are taking medication and if there would be any side effects. I am not taking any medication. I was trying out Avonex (the first medication I took for MS beside treatments for my attacks over the years) for 1 1/2 years before I stopped because I became pregnant 9 years ago and never went back on it since I didn't like the side effects.

Years ago I had numbness as well as loss of control of the left side of my body as well as my left side of the tongue.
