I have started forgetting how to take a shower. Every day I wake up confused, depressed, not knowing what to do next. All my family says, "that's natural, I do that sometime". I don't like to go to sleep because of how bad I'm going to feel when I wake up. I haven't had a good night's sleep in months. I get sleepy, I go to bed, and 30 minutes later, I'm up and down the rest of the night. I am EXHAUSTED!

The other day I was in a store cashing out and wanted to run my card as credit. I was starting at the screen that told me to press cancel if I wanted another payment option and at that moment I just couldn't understand what that meant. I just stood there staring at it. I apologized and said "I'm sorry. I have trouble understand directions". I laughed it off but it does bother me at the same time. Forgetting simple things or getting confused by simple instructions. I do it all the time. I also couldn't follow a simple recipe to make banana bread and I forgot what sound a rooster makes when I was singing old macdonald with my kids.

I was prescribed modafinil but wasn't able to fill prescription as insurance company won't authorize it for MS funny, this med was listed this month in a MS magazine as 1 of 2 meds used with success for MS fatigue.... Guess the insurance co didn't read that! Lol

Fatigue is tough! I would love to hear others answer as well....

I recently had a nightmare that I needed to call 911 for my husband but couldn't remember the numbers "911", woke up glad that memory loss was just a dream......lol! Hope if that became true my ms "fog" wouldn't keep me from remembering for real!

It would have to be more than once though. I am secondary Progressive, I think. I am not seeing a Neuro now. We don't have any that are noted as good. I have seen at least 10 and only one told me on the phone that she saw it all from the MRI's I sent her. She was happy to see me and do testing that did not come out normal. Then she was leaving the state, so suddenly that reflected on the report and it was not kind to me but she had changed the Medical report leaving in I did had small Dawson's Fingers.

Yes, Ena, remembering how to do things that should be second nature has become a real challenge for me as well.

I understand your fear of going to sleep knowing how bad you will feel after waking, but listen, you HAVE to get more than 30 minutes of sleep a night. If that's all you've been subsisting on for several months, that alone could explain why you are having trouble with really basic things like remembering how to shower. Believe me I KNOW that world.

Get to your doctor as soon as possible about this. If needed, accept sleeping medication and don't stress about you're going to feel the next day. You may indeed feel worse, AT FIRST, but it sounds like your body is in serious need of some actual rest and recuperation. This is the kind of exhaustion one or two nights of sleep is going to fix. You need several weeks, if not months, of actual recovery time.

Sending you BIG HUGS!

Yes @CanadaCathie, I was out to dinner one night, went to the restroom and saw a coworker who had just very recently moved on to another job. I couldn't for the life of me remember her name!! I was so embarrassed, her name? Mary. So simple, yet I drew a blank when I saw her and her significant other. I worked with both of them and could not remember either name.

Some days, I search for words with every sentence.
