I'll be eating or chewing gum and I bite my lip or tongue is this normal thing for MS I don't all the time it just seems more
Me too. I also find myself choking or having liquids go down the wrong tube.
@darlene14 Another thing is to eat more liquidy and softer foods to begin with. If it gets worse, try doing that for a few meals...or one a day. Give yourself a rest from the worry and panic.
I bite my tongue a lot as well, really hurts. I also have to slow down ans concentrate and it will get better but my attention is short so I forget and do it again! Ugh! I also have numb spots on my lips sometimes, I think mostly when I'm really tired.
I have had that happen A LOT. I find myself biting not only my tongue, but also the inside of my cheeks and lips. If I concentrate on my chewing, I can minimize it, but it is a real conversation killer at meals.
I thought I was doing good on this until just yesterday I 'chomped' down on my tongue, OUCH ! My therapist told me to SLOW DOWN when eating and take small sips of water during my meals. This will also aid in digestion too.
