I have PPMS, for 3 years. I also have an underactive thyroid which along with MS causes weight gain and severe fatigue. After being placed on other various drugs to help with fatigue with no success. My neurologist put me on 10mg Ritalin daily. After a few weeks of being on this med, my cognitive fog lifted and I had significant weight loss. Has anyone experienced weight loss with this med?
I take Ritalin, 20mg twice a day now for 6 months (one early morning and one at lunch time) this gets me through my work day. I have lost about 10 lbs but nothing drastic. It really helps with my fatigue and mental fog. If I hadn't started taking it I would've had to stop working. This has given me a little more time working.
@A MyMSTeam Member No ritalin has helped my balance. I have fallen twice in the last 2 months. Now on the days I feel like I'm doing more drifting when I walk I use a cane to help with my balance. I LOVE purple so I found a beautiful purple cane and it's helps me with my ego when using it. LOL!
Ritalin I take 3 x daily 7 am 12 pm and 5 pm has really helped me the best @A MyMSTeam Member but doesn't help balance least not mine @A MyMSTeam Member really hasn't helped brain fog
I took Ritalin for a moment in high school when they thought I had ADD (it was really MS). If you're hypothyroid you should be gaining weight, but Ritalin is a stimulant and will cause shaky hands, you might feel more hot, experience some weight loss. I don't know if 10 mg daily will do the trick though? Good luck
@A MyMSTeam Member I have PPMS as well. I suffer fatigue a lot. I have been thinking about asking for a med to help with it. I am wondering if Ritalin somehow helps with balance? My worry is take something for fatigue but still not be able to get around like I would like to.
