Broken Arrow, OK

My specialist recommended Provigil but it is not covered under my insurance for MS-related fatigue. Anybody else have any recommendations or suggestions?

I take an all natural vitamin that has 5000% B12! This kicked my fatigue out the door! Lasts 12 hours and I don't crash either!

I take Amantadine twice a day. Plus I lost 15 lbs after starting it. Now that's a plus!

My neuro put me on Amantadine twice a day. It didn't help a whole lot, so he added Nuvigil once a day. That made a big difference...BUT...I can't take it much past 8 a.m. or I will be up all night. I would like to get off the Amantadine, but he wants me on both. I still have days when I feel like the cement truck backed up and dumped the load on top of me, but they are much less often now.

I have cognitive problems that are severe. I am on Ritalin for fatigue and to help my concentration. It is working for me. It helps me to converse with others.

What everyone said is definitely true - amantadine, nuvigil, provigil, b12 - stimulant medications (eg ritalin or adderall) are used sometimes as well.

if your insurance won't cover any of these you can try using "idiopathic hyper-somnolence" like someone suggested above, or in the appeal letter for authorization, make sure your doctor mentions your quality of life is being affected by the fatigue - that will help it get approved.
