I was just wondering if anyone else had trouble with their bladders. I have always had trouble with mine even as a teenager but this past year has been worse. I can be sound asleep and it like I am dreaming of having to go pee and then all of a sudden I feel myself peeing in the bed, it is so embarrassing. I have had to change my pajama's in the middle of the night many of times lately.

To those of you that said you have a hard time going to the bathroom when you really have to, I have/had that. It's called DSD (Detrusor sphincter dyssynergia). Your bladder says go and your sphincter says no. Since you can't go completely, you retain urine and that makes you need to run to the bathroom again soon and not be able to fully go again. I finally fixed it by self catheterization. That solved all the problems. No more nighttime issues, frequency of urination, running to the bathroom, etc. I got my life back and self catheterization is easy after a day or two. I've been doing it for 6 years now. Only one UTI the entire 6 yrs. I also gave up caffeine, orange juice and any other "bladder irritants" 6 yrs ago as well.

I take vesicare and it helps some. I travel a lot too and I always try to get a seat as near to the bathroom as I can. I make my self go before I leave the house or restaurant so I don't have to worry so much on the drive. You learn ways to cope so it doesn't bother you so much.

It sure is an unpredictable illness. I had purchased a book recently about neurological development. I really want to look into this nerve damage. I will report if I find anything interesting
