I was recently diagnosed and am trying to get over my first attack. It's safe to say I am extremely overwhelmed and know very little about living with MS.

One symptom I am experiencing is the MS "hug" often. Does anyone have any relief advice they can give?

Ms hug is one of my worst painful symptoms. I had it quite intensely for a 2 year period. I found that Myofascial release massage therapy works great. My MS doctor increased my Baclofen to 20mg/3x day with 75mg of Lyrica, she also added 4mg Tizanidine at night. I also find that stress or excess lifting or walking (I think due to balance issues) can make it worse. I think that the addition of the Tizanidine at night helped a lot.

@MissMary921-- this truly is a mystery and every day a new adventure.. I had a cramp in my hip about a month ago -- that made the whole right side of my body stiff for about 30 minutes and then woke up the next day walking even worse then before :(
The MS for Dummies was REALLY a great general informational book...

So.... For several years I have felt sporadic tightening in my chest... Since it went away on its own after 15 minutes or so..I never really mentioned it to any doctors....yesterday, while on this site...and commenting that I didn't know about the MS hug...I really thought I didn't ! Later in the day..I had one of those episodes...and finally put two and two together....THAT is what I've been feeling!
Adds yet another symptom that I had in the years prior to DX that I didn't realize we're part of a bigger picture!!
