Not sure but I will say this. I had an episode or a "flair up" or whatever word anyone wishes to call it. I never called the Doctor because I had the same symptoms before and I figured if it continued for more than 48 hours or I had different symptoms then it would mean another lesion in a different place. Well sure enough about a day and a half later I started to feel better. Well about two weeks later I had another round of MRIs and 4 hours after I was done I got a call from the Doctor and he told me the lesion at My C2 grew twice the size since my last MRI and he put me on a 5 day steroid infusion that day. He went onto ask me how I felt. Now since I didn't tell him I had an "episode" he knew from the MRI that something happened. So I believe a good Neurologist Can tell.

When I finally saw the neurologist I was told they were old spots...so she is setting me up for another MRI of the brain before i see her again May 27th and a spinal too

From what I understood they can tell which are currently active and which are not that is the reason they do MRI with dye and without dye but even though they are not "active" they can still cause symptoms because the scar is there the active ones have potential to get bigger

That will be hard with a 3 yr old... i would love to just sleep after dinner
