Does anyone have drop foot? I have it really bad in my right foot that I even find it hard (tripping) using a walker. I had a brace made and it works fine but I find it heavy after a while of wearing it and I find I am limited to what I can wear. Any suggestions?

I have it as well. My MS doc gave me a brace that has a plastic piece that is placed under the laces of my shoes, it has a small belt attached to it that will hook to your ankle, you then put a Velcro brace around your ankle and then the small belt is clicked into the belt. It holds your foot in a upper position. Works great and I find it reasonably comfortable.

Drop foot was the symptom that drove me to my diagnosis back in 2006. In order for me to leave the house I have to use some sort of support for my right foot. I use a brace most of the time, but I also have a device called a Walk Aide, that I sometimes use. The walk aide uses an electric shock into one of the nerves in my lower leg, prompting my foot to lift up at the correct time. It is light, but I find the shocks to be uncomfortable. I was able to get the Walk Aide with the assistance of the Veterans Administration, but I understand that it is quite expensive, and not well covered by insurance.

Just so everyone knows....for me my drop foot is getting better. Not completely back to normal but getting sloooowly better. I credit this to swimming and gyming mostly but I also walk bare foot in my condo and concentrate 'heal to toe' walking. It helps a lot. Take your time and do this as much as you can. I now can walk in slippers (still using a walker) without tripping much. Still do when I'm tired.

@A MyMSTeam Member The AFO worked better than the Freedom foot brace so I upgraded since my insurance covered it. :) The Freedom foot brace can be worn with or without shoes so no laces are needed.

Look on Amazon. Find a brace for plantar fasciitis. It helps and is not so klunky
