I was diagnosed with MS about 6 years ago. I am now past 65. I started with Interferon injections after diagnosis. Then I changed over to Gilenya when it became available in this country about 2 years ago Now the Federal Government has put Lemtrada on subsidy scheme. I want to ask my Neurologist who I am going to see shortly if I should try Lemtrada. In the meantime I would love to hear about your feedback if you have tried it.
I am in the study trial. I started back in May 2009. Had my first 5 day infusions, then in May 2010 had the 3 day infusions. I was able to get into an extended trial in which I did not have the one day infusion in 2011. I still have not had to have Lemtrada since May 2010! Almost 5 years! No daily, or weekly shots. My leasions are still shrinking also!
I will make note that my symptoms have gotten worse over the years. Mainly after I stopped working. Stress is not a friend of mine. And I can get easily stressed. This would most likely explain my symptoms going insane at times.
Overall, I have had no problems with Lemtrada. I sometimes will refer to it as my miracle drug. In January 2009, I was told that if I continued down the road I was on that I would be in a wheelchair within the year.
Still walking!
Hi I did the first course of infusion with lemtrada but it didn't make any difference to what affects I already had. I didn't do the 2nd course coz just before I did the first I got a skin cancer cut out & a cancer cell went to my lymph nodes then I had the lemtrada which knocked my immune system so I ended up with cancer & had to have a 7 hr operation on my left side of my face to remove the tumors so I wasn't going to risk the same happening with the 2nd course. Also there are some severe side effects but I didn't get any but every body who does Lemtrada has have to have blood tests every month for the next five years, any questions let me know
Well to be honest the government is bunch morons who do not wan to s[pend a cent on medications for the part, but if you are with MS Life lines like i am they may be able to help you and they pay for all of it. one more thing i am not able to get medicare or medicaid because I am 35 years of ag . I have own private Health insurance Blue Cross Care First.
