I had a dental cleaning and the youngish dental hygienist told me that my dental inflammation was similar to my MS. She asked if my Neuro had put me on an anti inflammation diet. I told her no diet will either cure or worsen MS. She said she believed he was wrong since MS is caused by inflammation of nerve endings in my body. Now I get how your teeth can effect different things in your body but, seriously? My Neuro does MS as a specialty. If I didn't like her so much as a person that would've… read more

@A MyMSTeam Member I am newly diagnoed as if Jan.2015. I am going to try the paleo diet, I figure it can't hurt and I might lose a few lbs.
I have two older sisters with MS. I will preface my statement by saying I know there is no cure for MS. Neither sister is taking DMD. The one sister seems to be in a constant downward spiral. The other has been on the paleo diet for about 5 years. She is always on the move she travels quite often. She swears by it. I am no doctor but if healthy eating can make me feel the least bit better along with my doctors prescribed meds I will try it. I hope this doesn't offend anyone. I only offer it up a very interesting observation.

I agree with @A MyMSTeam Member....since our immune systems are directly related to our colons, it would make sense that diet could affect our health. Plus I have heard many people on this site talk about how a Paleo type diet helped them.

I don't think a certain diet will cure MS. However I do firmly believe that it could help. Eating junk and processed food is definitely not good for the body. I think our 'modern diets' cause a lot of the problems we have. Changing our diets doesn't make the drug companies any money, so why would 'they' want to research it? I've changed my diet (only about 2 months ago); we'll see what if any benefit it provides on the MS side of things. But either way, eating healthy is healthy overall for the body.

Thanks for the love! @A MyMSTeam Member I agree, flea markets should be dusty. Where you have to dig past the old furniture to find that one buried box. Who knows what treasure is there but the digging and and anticipation until you find that one amazing treasure. The treasure you didn't know you needed all your life until just the moment you held it in your hands wiped the dust from it! That is a flea market!

My whole point was no type of diet will either cure or worsen MS. I never once said a good and healthy diet would not make a difference. MS effects all of it's "victims" in different ways. ANd so will everyone's diet. I for one have to limit my intake of nightshades as they bring on the hug. Tomatoes are nightshades and are natural so that shoots the all natural theory out of the water. We are all different and there's no one silver bullet that will help everyone of us
