Who here has taken the drug Ampyra? Obviously one mesixine doesn't work for everyone, but just checking to see if there were positive stories. I kmow the cost is pretty high but I'm hoping my insurance and the assistance program might help.

I take Ampyra and used to have almost like a drop foot type thing. But my right foot doesn't catch on the ground any more, I definitely walk faster. But by the end of the day I still have problems walking and need to rest but I walk a lot with my job as long as I take breaks I'm ok

I read your story @A MyMSTeam Member & I must say I felt the effects of Ampyra the day after & someone mentioned it had to be a placebo effect. Pffft! I honestly have noticed a decline, especially if I miss an entire dose, which I've done probably 3 times this week unfortunately. Unfortunately I don't have a usual wake up time all 7 days a week, so if I sleep in grrr I skip my morning pill. Now I set alarms on my phone for both AM & PM :)

9 months for me now, no side effects that I am aware of. I keep a walking pole with me at all times if I am out and about, but without the Ampyra I'm pretty sure that a walker would be my main source of getting from point A to point B.

The one down side I experienced is missing a dose. I experienced a trip on tile the other day & I know I missed about 3 of my twice daily pills in a week. Stick to every 12 hours and it works great. I haven't had any of the side effects listed, unless the bruise I got during a nerve conduction can be counted.

Thanks guys, it really eases my mind to hear positive feedback! :D As soon as my old neuro sends my records to my new neuro I'm hoping I can get started on it!
@A MyMSTeam Member you crack me up! Glad it's working good for you, hope I get the same results
