I recently got a wheelchair for when I'm out and about on longer trips as my fiance wanted us to be able to get out down the sea front more without me having to rush to sit etc. The thing is I feel so embarrassed when I'm
I'm in it, like when I get out of the car and sit in the chair I feel like ppl are wondering why I'm getting into it if I can clearly walk over to it. Also I have some weight on my due to an under active thyroid and not being able to exersize much these days and I worry ppl… read more

You deserve a hug just sharing your story. Here is one coming your way!
Try not to worry what people think if they stare at you. I tell myself I am someone famous that's why they stare. Sometimes it works sometimes I feel like giving them the bird.

I agree with feeling worse around people I know. They just can't understand what happened so fast, even though most are in the medical field. I have lost a lot of friends because they don't know what to say. I'm still me, but I am a different me. I don't care about strangers. I think if you have your own personal wheelchair they don't notice your fat, but if they see you walk from your car and get into a store wheelchair, they might think it's because of all those chips and cookies your buying. LOL. Most strangers just look at you and wonder what happened or are just giving you a nod.

I know how you feel, it is embarrassing at times. But you have to understand ..only those of us in the same boat understand and in the big scheme of things nothing else really matters but what works for you. They shouldn't be judging you anyway.if they are that's their problem.you are just fine!

I want to get this off my chest. I realize I wrote you from Rolly's post to you. God, I feel stupid, but I'm glad I'm not judged on this site. It's my first error on this site, but probably not my last. I will be the first to say though, "my two day vacation starting tomorrow will go better though, being I'm able to apologize.
I saw Kat that you were having a so, so day. It's interesting, I think, from running into your brother. The I think, is to cover my you know what, from my first error. I have a brother, Greg, so I don't have to call him brother all the time. Greg, 4 years older I think respects me. The scenario- Greg, Luther College Graduate, runs his own insurance business through Thrivent. Me- Technical college drop out, has worked for McDonalds for 7 years! Your guess is as good as mine if he respects me.
The kicker in this is my daughter began being a life guard, last week. She makes .50 less then I do! Wow, I feel important! N__
You can fill in the two blanks!
I guess ;my point in this is we have to look at the positive in our life. I know we both have it!
Like I said, "vacation will be better!!"
Thanks, Troy
