Ahhh thanks everyone !! I am really curious to see the results of my gadolinium scan when I go to get it done ! Thankfully nothing showed up on a regular mri ...but I have a feeling it will show inflammation and I don't know the outcome once that is resolved (if it's the case )

Highlighting & enhanced are the same. RRMS comes with inflammation at times of flares, when lesions are active and can be viewed with dye enhanced MRI. Older, inactive lesions are viewed without contrast dye and are lesions, scars, they are permanent damage. It is my understanding that inflammation is not permanent, although cortisteroids (spelling?) will speed the process to shrink swelling.

The dye is useful to see the lesions active and non-active I have been told. Lesions is scaring. Scaring can't be fixed. We need to start pushing for stem cells I think but that is a whole other matter that only our doctors can tell us about. There is so much about MS that they still know nothing about.

I thought the dye was mainly helpful for highlighting active lesions ?

I have lesions that my doctor said "didn't enhance" with the MRI dye. Meaning they are still there but they are no longer active.
