Hair is falling out a lot. Bald spots. Very very thinning hair. Any suggestions? Thanks
Learn more about the drug treatment mentioned aboveI am not on Aubagio but I have substantial hair loss with every solumedrol round several times a year. I take hair skin and nails by natures bounty and my hair grows back fast. Check with your Dr. About it. You can get it anywhere. Also when washing your hair make sure to scrub your scalp. I scratch it then message it while I'm washing it. It makes sure your hair follicles stay open for new growth and do not get clogged. I have found by doing this it will grow back. Also I use tree tea shampoo . This will also help with the hair follicles. I use it once a week. Good luck. I know how frustrating it can be.
My experience with Aubagio has been overall negative. My Neuro put me on the drug, it made my stomach a disaster every single day I took a pill, and it made my hair fall out. I had a ton of hair originally so it didn't seem like a big deal to lose some hair.
The hair loss started around 8 or 9 mo's into treatment. That's when I started fancy shampoos and biotin etc... Nothing seemed to help. Since then my hair line has receded noticeably and my hair has thinned like that of a baby's. Its awful. I know that other men in my family such as my own brothers all have there hair and are ten years older than me. My hair loss is def due to Aubagio. Which BTW didn't work for me. I has disease break-through on aubagio twice before my doc failed me and recommended tysabri. I went against her advice and am on rebif which miraculously seems to be working. Stopped disease progression and lesions have reduced in size since I began rebif.
Now it's been 6 or 7 months since I've taken aubagio and my hair is still falling out. My doctor doesn't seem to notice because she's not a hair doctor. She doesn't care. I could take that drug that flushes aubagio out of your system but as much as I was re-assured I could always take that drug now that I need it - I am warned of how harsh and dangerous it is. Fuck Aubagio.
Thank you so much for this answer! I have a lot of hair so other people don't really notice it. I do however have very bad bowel problems with the Aubagio. I hope that will stop soon as well. I do think it is the best medicine in comparison to what I've heard about other medicine! Thanks again :)
Hi @A MyMSTeam Member - I experienced a lot of hair thinning from month 4-7. It finally slowed down in mid Sept and now it has stopped. New hair has been growing in since it started falling out. My family and close friends were able to notice the thinness but I didn't have any bald spots. It was frankly very alarming. I spoke with the MS one to one nurse and filled out a form for the FDA so they could record my side effect. As alarming and scary as it was, I'm glad I stuck with it because I have no other side effects and my latest MRI has shown no change in lesions on the brain. Taking a quick pill in the morning has been a blessing compared to the shots of copaxone I had been doing. Good luck to you.
Did you share this information with your Neuroligist? I've been on Aubagio for a couple of years now and I had alittle hair thinning at the beginning of treatment but it's fine now. I was concerned at the beginning of taking the medication but I thought I'd take a chance since I was tired of taking injections. Tell your Dr. if you haven't already. Maybe he or she will have some suggestions for the side effect. I hope the side effect improves for you which it should.
