My first brain MRI that I had done back in June showed nothing but sinus problems...My Neuro's nurse called me today saying that the one I got done last week shows a small area of incidental non-specific white matter...Is this something that I should be worried about? The nurse says no but that she sent the mri info to a new Neuro Opthamologist that I see next week as well as the MS Specialist that I will be seeing in March. Generally optic neuritis is a first symptom the lesions sometimes dont show until after ie the damage to my optic nerve could not even be seen for almost 2 months after the optic neurtitis started for me
Did they do the brain and spine Mri ? And the lumbar to check the fluids ? It can be other things but those tests should rule them out
The first neurologist I went to was an idiot so I wasn't diagnosed and medicated correctly till I found the one I go to now
That sounds like another way of saying a lesion. They look for lesions on the brain and in the spine with MS. They probably found one (or more) and now want you to see a specialist. Don't panic. I've got several lesions on the brain and it hasn't been that big of a deal (it's my spine lesions that are a pain).
Yes, I got the same runaround during my diagnostic process. The multiple lesions in my brain were considered somewhat nonspecific - or not quite specific enough. It was maddening because my symptoms were clearly those of MS. As the disease continued to progress, the lesions began to form a more identifiable pattern. So with time, all will be revealed. The waiting process was the worst!
@A MyMSTeam Member I am concerned even thou the Neuro made it like I shouldn't be..I didn't have it back in June but then in December it shows white matter..So yea that concerns me, I have an appt with a MS Specialist in March and I see a new Neuro Opthamologist for the 2nd time this Thur and will be asking more questions
