I have had that many MRIs in the past 6 years went to book my current one and they said their will be no contrast used. All my previous ones have had contrast and I said this when I went to book. The answer I got was they are cutting down on the amount of patients getting contrast. I see this as cost cutting seeing as all my previous lesions have only ever shown up with contrast. There's recent research (in reliable medical literature) that showed significant adverse effects in ms patients based on the cumulative effects of MRIs (can't remember if was related to a type of contrast, but I think so). So I think the risks/benefits need to be assessed. Hope not just health care economics...
I have the best GP and a neurologist that on my last report still has me on medication I stopped using 4 years ago and didn't even have my current meds on there. Even though three weeks prior I was in hospital.

Saw my GP yesterday he agrees with me so rang my neurologist to clarify why the MRI was ordered without contrast. He then wrote me an MRI request that is the same but with contrast.
This MRI was to decide if I need to swap treatments seeing as my MS isn't stable atm. I can't make a scientifically justified decision if the MRIs can't be compared.
