I started yesterday morning off pretty good my neck was a little stiff but not bad. I went to run some errand after about 4 hours I was dizzy like I had spinned myself around. I had to grab the wall and hold it unit I reached the bench then I had to sit for 25 minutes before I was stable enough to get back up. During this episode I was sweating, hot, nausea, and shaking wondering if this was MS related or more likely the vertigo that the Neurologists believes I have. I don't know what is what… read more
Yes, I get dizzy too but usually not for that long and not accompanied by sweating, hot, nausea, and shaking. The National MS Society has some info about meds that can help.
This is from the NMSS: http://www.nationalmssociety.org/Symptoms-Diagn...
"Dizziness is a common symptom of MS. People with MS may feel off balance or lightheaded. Much less often, they have the sensation that they or their surroundings are spinning — a condition known as vertigo. These symptoms are due to lesions — damaged areas — in the complex pathways that coordinate visual, spatial and other input to the brain needed to produce and maintain equilibrium.
Usually, these symptoms respond to an anti motion-sickness drug such as meclizine (Antivert®, Bonine® or Dramamine®), the newer skin patches that deliver scopolamine, or the anti-nausea drug ondansetron (Zofran®). Consult your healthcare team if dizziness or vertigo becomes bothersome or lasts a long time; in severe cases, a short course of corticosteroids may be prescribed."
Yes I had a problem starting August 2015. Did the tests with ENT specialist. I was clear of that but my mri showed lesions in Brain responsible for balance etc. I got mostly better but didn't drive for like 2 months. Ive been having dizzy spells lately plus other issues like sweats, anxiety/panic, now the nausea & vertigo are back also a stiff neck, pain in my back, faintness etc. Its all MS symptoms, sorry. Best of luck.
GET TO THE DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY!!! Sorry for shouting, but it sounds like you were possibly having a heart attack as those are symptoms for women. I once got extremely dizzy like that when teaching and the nurse immediately checked my blood pressure, thinking that it was my heart. But BP was fine and it turned out I had "active" arthritis in my neck that was causing the problem. I also deal with vertigo on a pretty regular basis, but unfortunately, nothing works in terms of medicine, so just have to wait it out. Although, there are eye exercises that help a lot!
My Dr. said the same, part of ms. I get it sometimes and thee worse ones come while I'm in the care driving. It's like it knows the worst time to kick in. Be care with the driving. I just has some minors today and yesterday. Weird how that works. Minor when I'm inside and major when I'm out.
I had similar just before I was told of Transverse Myelitis/ poss MS. On and off for about 3 months (not meaning to alarm you). Once the pain in my neck starts I'm always cautious as something horrible tends to happen soon after so that may be worth bearing in mind.
My Neurologist still cant diagnose MS for legal reasons due to lack of brain scarring but in his eyes the scarring on my neck and evidence from spinal fluid are conclusive. He wants me on certain treatments only a full diagnosis will give.
That said if you want more clarity and knowledge as to why you are like this (and from reading this it seems you do) maybe a neck scan and spinal tap will help.
Best of luck.
