Has anyone experienced these "MS hugs?" I had no idea what was going on the first time I had one and almost went to the ER. My Dr then told me about the MS hug. If any of you have any suggestions of what to do when they start, or what triggers them for you, etc., any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I try to find a comfy position (sit, lay down etc...depends on the level of 'hug'), rest, breathe deeply & wait it out. I find that any kind of 'stress' (anxiety, worry, pressure etc...) triggers mine to tighten even more...& then I have to break out the cookies (because everyone knows that cookies make everything better!) :D
Yes! Cookies! :) I like how you think, Benzie!
They are definitely caused by stress, the first time I had one, I didn’t know what is was thought I was dying! Very scary, my husband phoned NHS, & they got an ambulance many hours later, after many tests, they told me it was MS hug! The joys of having MS! Can’t thank NHS Enough, I think I will become the Cookie Monster............. 🌈🙏🤔
Don't panic and know that it will go away!
take any tight clothes off, no bra, no belts, no turtlenecks...rest..it does help a bit
