I've done some reading on different diets with people who have MS..I've heard and read great things about the palieo diet and how it has made tremendous change in m.s patients. Have anybody else heard or tried it?

I met with the dietician at the MS Clinic and it went great.I learned how much of Vitamin D and Calcium to take, Good because I was truly just guessing. As far as the Keto Adapted lifestyle she knew about it since she is working with ALS patients and Epilepsy patients who are doing great on Keto. She said that there is no human studies with MS patients but science shows that a diet high in good fats protects the nerves. At the end of our 1 hour appointment he said that we will monitor my bloodworm and as long as I feel good and the Bloodwork is all good she sees no reason to go off the Keto adapted lifestyle.

Well I have never tried paleo, I have adapted a Ketogenic lifestyle since Jan 2016 and feel great. I have lost 36 lbs, no longer grave sugar and carbs in general. I have spend my entire adult life addicted to carbs. I am not missing anything, I look and feel better than I have in years. If Paleo has similar benefits I have no idea why more people do not look into this lifestyle!!!! I see a dietitian at the MS Clinic lets see what she has to say about this I am going to this appointment armed with all of my info. I will keep everyone posted.

I've read a lot about it but I couldn't see going on a full paleo diet. It was described as sort of like what a caveman diet would have been....including organs and tongues of animals, grasses, etc. I almost bought a book about it but then figured I couldn't stick to a diet like that and my doctor said it wouldn't make any difference but I don't know. Mostly, I think it's important to eat foods and spices that are anti-inflamatories Also a lot of fish like salmon, tuna, sardines. Spics like tumeric, cinnamon, curry, ginger, etc. But, maybe if you could do that diet it might be beneficial to you....Maybe.

MartynFox we have more in common than just MS. I have lost 40 lbs and my husband has lost 70 lbs and is now off of his diabetes meds. Ketogenic lifestyle has been very good for us. I am happy that it is working well for you and Sue!!!

I follow the Wahls Protocol which is loosely related to the Paleo diet and I've had great success :). I recommend doing the Whole30 first and then adding foods in one-by-one to see how they affect you after the 30 days is over.
