I have a friend, who's pretty much like a brother to me, who thinks he understands what goes on with MS. I mean the things that most people can do to help them with certain problems/issues don't usually work with MS. I mean for instance I told him that I have a really hard time getting to sleep which really doesn't help with my energy during the day. His solution is for me to make myself do more stuff during the day so my body is more tired at night and it will be easier to go to sleep. I've… read more

Gene I have started printing out articles from MSAA, and some from these chat rooms and just sharing well written articles. They read and say oh my.

Thank you CoolLioness for that. I would definitely try that but unfortunately he's the type of person who thinks he understands because he's talked to other people who have it. I do really like the idea though.

Tell him to watch the video done by Anette Funicello. Maybe that will help him understand the horrors of this disease and just because we look healthy doesn't means we are. Tell him it's like the motherboard of a computer (our brain) is all scrambled and doesn't freaking work right anymore!! You hit the key to go back and we may go fwd! You hit the key to eat and you start choking! The nerves in our brain our misfiring like spark plugs and they can't be reset!

@A MyMSTeam Member That is the most owesome idea I have heard!! Also the best description. I do not have a friend that would bother to do that - she would just say, never mind, I will take yoiur word for it!

I have trouble falling asleep as well. My dr gave me a prescription for Travadone and it helps. Sometimes I am up all night which makes the next day hard, but I do sleep great the next nights. The Travodone is only good when I can have no alarm though. The MS walk talked about above should open your friends eyes.
