Since the stem cell transplant for ms clinical trials have begun in the U.S., in very few places; it has a 98% efficacy rate. That's right....98% that you would be back to normal as you were prior to ms. So, my question is this-
If given the opportunity, (let's say your ms is SUPER severe...i.e.....8 relapses in less than 1.5 years and your doctor told you that you only had 5 years before you would never be able to function in anyway shape or form again) would you take the risk? Would you… read more

@A MyMSTeam Member Dr. Burt in the USA is the only one doing it. It is self funded, that's why it's taking a while. The pharmaceutical companies will never fund it because they will be biting their own hands. The MS Clinic was charging my insurance over $19,000 every 28 days. My last infusion was February 2nd. That's a few days shy of 10 months. Biogen lost at least $190,000 so far on just one person, me. No one would want kill their golden goose.

Diagnosed in 2014. Did Techfidera & Tysabri. I did HSCT. It's not 98% effective. It's 91% effective & 86% of those 91% see symptoms reversal. It's goal is to stop the progression. Any symptom reversal is a plus. I had it done in Mexico. It's in clinical trials in the USA. We're so behind. You need to pay for it in the US and the guidelines to get approved are really tough. Dr. Burt is doing it in Chicago Illinois. It's approved in other countries. When it gets approved in 2022 the lines will be long and reversals will be compromised

What is the source of the stem cells? I have been weary because of the potential sources. I would be willing to take the chemo if I could be 100% certain of the ethical sources

@Justme78- yes, that is part of the initial process...they have to kill your immune system (since that is what is attacking our bodies supposedly) but then that is then stem cell process...they do the chemo...then rebuild your system....it is a fresh start perhaps someone would say..
