I know how bad smoking is especially for MS. I really wanna quit. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can make quitting smoking easier?
My first question to you is how many cigarettes a day do you smoke? Let's say you smoked 20 cigarettes a day. Continue with the 20 cigarettes for the next two weeks. Then reduce it to 19 cigarettes a day for two weeks. After, reduce it to 18 for two weeks. You are gradually weaning yourself off at tobacco and it will work.
I'd stopped and started so many times over the years and every time I started again kidded myself that it gave me pleasure and reduced stress, which of course it didn't. Although it took me two reads, reading the Allen Carr book, was my change.I have been smoke free for two years and so far have had no desire to smoke and don't feel that I am missing out, which I used to during my quitting months. Also an online forum,Health unlocked has been a brilliant support.
Good luck :)
Samuel Clemmens (Mark Twain) said quitting smoking is easy. I have done it hundreds of times. Some people are more addicted than others. In General women tend to be more addicted than men are to all the various chemicals in cigarettes today. Some people don't go through severe withdrawals for others like me I was just as addicted 20 years later as I was the day I quit. My wife felt that she was still addicted 30 years after she stopped smoking. My wife and I both quit cold turkey.
Eventually you will actually feel better physically, overall. A big factor is that there are a lot of others on this web site who have gone through it, along with all the other MS Symptomatic Stuff that you are dealing with on a daily basis. Reach out here and there will always be understanding.
i used to smoke. I quit with the gum . i started out with chewing when i needed it [according to packet] , slowly cut down to 1/2 than 1/4 a piece. You do need willpower anyway you look at it, it is hard. You really have to want to quit!. oh yes, I also stopped smoking in the car, after dinner, and did not smoke after any extracurricular activities. behavior modification really helps. It took a long time, but I did it. Good Luck!
The enhanced risk for breast cancer because of the MS is fantastic.
