I have been an on again/off again smoker for 13 years. (Mostly off.) I've been noticing that I feel heavier/slower on the occasion that I do smoke.

I have been recently diagnosed with primary progressive ms. My nerves have been shot so I took up smoking again. Wrong move on my part! Now after a year I'm hooked on cigs again, and because of the progression of the disease, every time I smoke all my symptoms are magnified 10x. After I smoke I can barely walk, think, etc..

I stopped after Dx. Just flat out stopped figuring my body had enough to deal with already.

What I have heard at multiple MS lectures was that it progresses your MS 25% faster. Google it.

Smoking didn't have a particularly bad impact on me, but I have successfully quit for almost two full years now! I was a smoker for over 25 years. Happy to be done with that awful habit! I don't even wanna think bout the money I smoked sway! When I started it was less than a dolls per pack, when I quit it was easily five or six. Oh, well!

I didn't feel like I was failing to breathe as a smoker, but I do breathe better these days... If you can avoid it, then avoid it! I know its a bear to quit, almost got me divorced... But we survived it together!
