Is there anyone out there who is a breast cancer survivor? Especially anyone after they were diagnosesd with MS?
I have been diagnosed with DCIS (Ductal Carcinoma In-Situ). I am worried about how treatment will affect my MS.
I was diagnoised with MS in 1988 and had breast cancer 10 yrs later...had 3 lumpectoties down and still no clean biospoy so we took my right breast off.......also this yr they found something on the mammo and did a biospy and it was fine....maybe I shound have had the other 1 taken off before but not a star with the money lol have had M for 30 yrs now and still somewhat moblie..always ready for the worst BUT AM STILL ALIVE AND GONNA FIGHT ANYTHING!!!
Hello dear do not fear ,I was dx m.s ,two years later cancer,it was a shock to know I had m.s but cancer was mind blowing ,I did also have DCIS ,go to the doctors read a lot of books on breast cancer ,do not be afraid ,I was surprised that I was able to be here today and living a near to normal life if it wasn't for the m.s ,so the treatments I cannot tell what you may or may not have to do ,it's all up to you and your doctor

Do not worry I to have dealt with cancer and MS. I also have tumors in my parotid glands. I had two surgeries and 49 treatments. Don not worry God has you back.
I just went through a partial mastectomy in my right breast due to ductal carcinoma. I too was very concerned how the surgery and/or post surgery would affect my MS. I was also just coming off an MS relapse just as I was getting ready to have the partial mastectomy surgery, and was concerned about "afterwards". As a precaution, I was administered a dose of solemedrol (IV steroid) just before the surgery. The surgery went well and I've had some MS issues, but nothing new or out of the ordinary, and that is now being controlled with prescription prednisone (steroids). I am healing from the breast cancer surgery and also dealing with and managing MS symptoms. Thankfully, both have been manageable.
You can do this! Consider discussing with your neuro and breast cancer surgeon the precaution dose of IV steroid treatment prior to surgery and possible after surgery MS treatment.
Good luck!
