Members came together around the question of whether MS is guaranteed to get worse, with the shared understanding that while MS is a progressive disease, the rate and experience of progression varies greatly from person to person. Several members shared that staying active, reducing stress, eating well, and taking disease-modifying medications have helped them maintain stability, with some members living well with MS for over 30 years. A recurring theme was focusing on what you can control today, keeping a positive outlook, and not letting worry or fear take over your life.

Resesearchers have said that no matter what we were initially diagnosed as after 20 25 years our disease becomes one. My next comment is CHILL OUT. Your disease is your disease not anyone else's. Over the years it changes and as most have said the beginning seems to be the worst. Whether that is because we have adapted better, changed our lifestyles, or what no one knows for sure. What I do know is that if you live MS 24 hours a day you will most certainly get worse. There is a lot of junk out there on the internet. Do you spend an inordinate amount of time researching - then stop it! It will not change anything and when and if there is a cure that comes up - a real one - you can be sure the MS organizations will be letting you know quickly so just live your life, enjoy the good days. pamper yourself on the bad days, omit the haters from your life as well as the stress as much as possible. It doesn't matter what you were ONCE, what matters is who you are NOW, TODAY ,AND TOMORROW. That person is the most important person in your life. Treat her/him gently because that person is the most powerful and strongest entity within your body and mind. Loving yourself with or without disease will help you carry a good sense of humour and burn the bad thoughts that come your way. You are beautiful and strong....say it every day to yourself.. God bless..

I'm still kinda new to this (diagnosed 12/15), and as an educator, I'm doing what I do when I come across something new and/or scary....RESEARCH! For me, comfort always comes when I know more and can take baby steps forward toward a possible solution even when the path is long and arduous.

I have read a plethora of books, scoured the internet, attended meetings, gone to every DR/specialist available to learn as much as I can, taken local and internet courses, etc...and what I can tell you about disease progression and MS in general is that there are more questions than answers out there. Initially, that was really frustrating for me - how could this disease be around for so long and still so little is known? And then there's the weird facts (like I'm 26% more likely to get MS because I was born in the month of May and some of my relatives have red hair?!). As I said, at first this was frustrating, but then I started looking at the positives...and started tailoring what I was searching for accordingly - as I focused more on symptom management, and success stories, I began to feel better about my diagnosis. Slowly, I started to take the steps that made sense for me. It hasn't been easy, but....

I definitely feel better now that I've made the following changes: MITO food plan, targeted supplements, detoxed home, daily exercise, more sleep, acupuncture & essential oils & massage (for symptom management), CBD oil, meditation (still learning!), daily time outdoors, and reading uplifting books. I focus on what I can do rather than what's hard. I surround myself by positive people (and yes, I have allowed some friendships to taper off since in the long run it's better for me). I've met a few inspirational folks who have had MS for 60+ years and are still doing really well. I believe that if it can happen for them, it can happen for me! And, if for some reason it doesn't, I will cross that bridge when I get to it. Worrying about it now will only make bad stuff happen sooner! I should note that all 3 of the folks that I mentioned as having MS for 60+ years have one thing in common: a very optimistic outlook on life. They appreciate what they do have, and believe that they can get through any hardships that life or their MS throws their way. Meeting them was instrumental in getting me past the initial depression of my diagnosis - and moving in a more productive direction.

Our paths will all be different. My hope for us all is that we can continue to enjoy the gift of each day that we are given and not allow this darn disease to hinder our happiness and dim our light. XX

Stop worrying. The answer is, we never know. One day at a time.

Listen, take one day at a time. Don't worry about tomorrow. You will make yourself crazy about this.

There's no guarantees in this life warrior except, death &a taxes so do your best, ask your neurological dr " what would you advise your mumma to do if she was in my situation? Usually you get the truth, I've had symptoms for years but just thought I was tired, working 3 jobs and raising kids I'm nearly 50 and by the time they moved out and I was like, hey this isn't normal, I felt like I'd been in the pool for 5 days straight, Mri next day, so many leisions the outcome was a no brainier, just do your best, try to be happy if you sometimes have to fake it, you will forget that your faking and find something really joyful then you're not faking anymore. Having a eeveepom helps heaps, good luck. Light & love ❀️ warrior πŸ»πŸ™πŸŒˆπŸ’ͺ
