A friend's husband is newly dx. His MS specialist told him that progression stops at 65. Anyone else heard that?
I am so sorry for the people who haven't found a way out of Multiple Sclerosis. After being diagnosed PPMS in 1984 and spending the next decade in either a hospital, a hospice or several other disability related institutions I "said" hey!!! I'm not spending the rest of my life in those institutions so guess what?
Against all odds I managed to win the war against MS., and here I am 33 years later and still 95% Ambulatory and still enjoying life to the fullest. It can be done people, believe it, or not!!!!
RRMS1984
Not true for women. Am 73 and MS made a progression starting at 68 and continues....however progression is slow....hopefully will stay so or stop progressing!
it sounds to me like another doctor making a claim that turns out to be not be true. Like, and to lots of other people-you have 1 year to live and they live for 10 more years. etc. . . . .
I mean how could they possibly know that? there are so many uncertainties when it comes to brain and spinal cord.
I got information in all different directions from the 4 Neurologists that saw me when this first happened to me.
I know they do have "educated guess" but I prefer it if they call it that and not make it a statement of fact.
Don't get me wrong I appreciate doctors, but oh wow!! They can really be wrong and hurtful sometimes.
I think that is nonsence
Have never heard that one but then progression stopped for me in 1996 at age 44, I am now 65 and still 95% Ambulatory in 2018
